Tuesday Teasers 11.17.09

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

*Grab your current read
*Open to a random page
*Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
*BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
*Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their
TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My Teaser:

" At the very least I could become a food critic to make a living. "Okay, I have a plan!" I celebrated. Though I still couldn't call my mother and share my plan because her laughter would crush me."

Hungry Woman in Paris by Josefina Lopez (p. 48)

  1. Who wouldn't want to find a way to stay in Paris. You made me feel sorry for her with your teaser.

  10. I know that feeling, being excited about an idea but knowing that your parent will dampen your enthusiasm.

  13. Lorin: It's a light, fun and interesting book about a young Mexican-American woman trying to figure out her life. Thanks!

Missy: It's partly about a mother/daughter relationship that's filled with tension...mom wants her daughter to do one thing with her life while the daughter has other ideas...she just isn't sure what they are! It's an entertaining book!

MarceJ: I'd love to find a reason to stay in Paris! I feel badly for her because she knows if she goes home her mother will nag & pester her as will her sisters.

jayaycee: I think you'll really like this book then. It's kighter than the Julia book your just read but still a good book. Thank you for stopping by!

Beth: It is, thank you! I'll be by to check out your teaser!

JoAnn: It's very good light reading about a young Mexican-American journalist disenchanted with the USA and her life so she flees to Paris to visit a friend living there.

Christine: I think being a food critic would be great, at least for a little while! If it got me to Paris....lol

Sandy:I never heard of this book but I'm glad you did. It's by the author of the screenplay "Real Women have Curves" which I loved!

Jenny: It is good, it's very entertaining and I'm also learning about the Mexican culture which I don't know much about. The author of this book wrote the screen play for a great movie "Real Women have Curves".

Miss Moppet: I haven't read Julie & Julia yet but I have it on my TBR pile. The narrator is a Mexican-American journalist out of a job and completely disenchanted with life in several different aspects and she's avoiding her family!

alitareads: A reason to stay in Paris for a few months sounds pretty good to me, especially if you're also learning to cook! lol Thank you for stopping by!

Literary Feling: It's so sad when someone can dampen your spirits so easily and quickly. And they usually mean well on top of it. I guess that's part of growing up & learning to make our own way in the world.

Myckyee: The Mexican'American narrator has a tough mother whose very supportive if your following her ideas and rules, otherwise she laughs at you. I feel bad for this woman too!

Old Bookworm: No worries, I'm usually at least a little behind. You got here before I did! lol Thank you for coming by! Paris and food is a pretty inticing combination! lol
