Sunday Salon ~ Lovely, Lazy Sundays!

Sundays always seem to fly by...maybe because I'm considerably lazy on Sundays! I always wake with great plans for getting lots accomplished. Then I pick up a good book while drinking my coffee or begin watching a riveting movie...Suddenly it's noon. Ack! Oh well, it's all good and fun!

I've been having a little trouble getting back into the swing of things after the bronchitis. I've been feeling better, just fatigued, tired but the fantastic weather has enabled me to get outside for a little gardening and a lot of reading. The cats are very much in favor of me hanging around outside on the deck. It's as if they think it gives them permission to loll about on the deck...as if they needed anyone's permission! The cats do what they want, when they want! And they are sooo cute! I am never without my fur kids coming and going while I'm out there reading!

The warm weather brings out the cats...mine and many others! There's a large white cat with big gray spots coming around lately. I thought he looked like a Henry but on closer inspection he's a Hank...definitely Hank! He likes to come into the front yard at night, see what's going on, sit with the other cats for a bit but he doesn't ask for food or attention or anything. He's very content and acclimated to life outdoors. There's a small tabby with an adorable face and pretty gray eyes who's been coming around a few evenings. She's friendly, hungry and loves cat-nip. I've already started thinking about getting her a home somewhere. Yesterday, I spent several hours looking for a pretty white cat living somewhere on a busy street near a large supermarket. It's many blocks from here on a main thoroughfare filled with shops and lots of people. It's not a good area for a small, adorable kitty to live. And, despite all of the people around and the many shops with open doors and owners/managers hanging around, few knew much about this cat except to say they see her around. ugh! I had no luck yesterday and will keep going back in the hopes I'll see her again. Meantime, I'm going to work on finding her a home, too! shopping.

I've been reading a lot the last couple of weeks which means reviews to write. I like writing them because I like letting bloggers know about books I've read but I almost always have trouble starting the review. It always sounds good in my head...neat & ordered and such & it makes perfect sense. Then I sit down to write it...'poof'! my thoughts, my ideas, disappear into thin air as if I never even thought about what to write! lol It doesn't always happen like this & now that I recognize what's going on when it does happen, it makes me laugh! Anyway, I'll hopefully have reviews of Dreams of Joy by Lisa See, Lives of Girls and Women by Alice Munro and Rosie by Anne Lamott soon, among others! I'm reading Miss Timmin's School for Girls by Nayyana Currimbhoy, Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese (for
Erin Reads Reading Buddies project for June) and The Astral by Kate Christensen.

What are you reading and enjoying this Sunday?
Anything else fun happening?!

  1. I'm working on Cutting for Stone right now. It's the first fiction book of this author that I have read.

    Here's my Sunday Salon.

  2. My cats love to sit on the deck or porch with me. Mazie Grace has even been getting in the hammock with me. Sounds like all the cats in your neighborhood know where the kind person lives.
I just started reading The Great Gatsby. I'm trying to read some of the classics along with the modern day novels.

  3. I have a hard time writing my reviews unless I write them right after finishing the book. These days, the memory just isn't there. I forced myself to write four reviews the other day and they were on books I read some time ago. It was difficult to recall the feelings I had while reading them, so I have since tweaked them at least a dozen times before scheduling them to post.

I hope you are feeling better now.

  4. I love that you look out for and rescue all the homeless cats in your area. It's so nice that there is someone out there to take care of them. I also hope that you are back to fighting shape soon, as I know how low bronchitis can throw you. I used to get it all the time.

Don't think you are the only one who has problems with thoughts escaping when you sit down to write. It happens to me all the time, but I just sit there and push through, no matter what the result.

  5. I have the same problem with book reviews. I often start writing them in the shower and then the brilliant writing I had disappears when I finally sit down. I've found that I just need to start SOME PLACE and get it done or I'd never write anything.

Sounds like you have a part-time job finding homes for cats!
