This is the kitty-cats ideal weather. Some of them have energy to spare. Some, like Big Bob, still sleep the day away! Mr. Magoo spends the nights running outside to play and then back in, resting for 20 minutes and running back out again to play! Lola wakes up in the morning in play mode and seems to run everywhere, jumping up and twisting around every couple of feet! I was in the kitchen the other morning putting the cat's food out and I heard this weird scratching sound from the other room. Lola found an old cat toy underneath some piece of furniture or other and dragged it out to play with - it's a round plastic ring with a ball inside of it. The ball spins around the ring, while the cat to tries and get it by sticking their paw into the ring. What Lola doesn't realize is the ball will never come out of the ring! Lola's been playing with this toy all week. She gets so into trying to catch the ball and she's so focused on what she's doing, she ends up dragging the entire ring across the floor, it's very funny to watch!
Today is review day for me (I hope!) I'd like to draft several reviews and finish up a few that I left unfinished. It's getting to the point where I'm stressing too much about these reviews I haven't done and if I wait much longer, the reviews are going to become an unpleasant task I have to get done rather than something I enjoy doing. So I'm on a mission! The Leftovers by Tom Perrotta and The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern are two of the books on m review list! I'm hoping to finish The Lotus Reader by Tatjana Soli which I've been taking my time with and spend some time with The Wind-Up Bird Chronicles by Haruki Murakami!
Happy Reading!
I hope you have a great Sunday!
The warm weather is why I'm thankful to live in the South! Good luck with your reviews.
ReplyDeleteI am actually wishing that it was cooler here, as it doesn't feel like winter in Florida at all! I wish it would stay cooler for more than a couple of days, and it' starting to look like Christmas will be a warm day :( It's really poopy because this year, I bought a lot of cute sweaters that I want to be able to wear! Sorry to rant! That just came out of nowhere!
ReplyDeleteToday's paper says we had our 3rd warmest November ever, and no significant snowfall either. I'm not complaining one bit... just hoping we don't have to pay for it later!
ReplyDeleteI'm staring to stress about review. There are 6-8 in various stages that really need to be finished, but it's not going to happen today. Enjoy the warm weather, Amy!
I know!!! Isn't it awesome??!!
ReplyDeleteI live in NY and its 54 here now!
I keep wondering - Is this what its like to live in the south?
I am not a winter person, and yet, her i am living in cold snowy upstate NY, (except for this year) now its sunny warm upstate NY!
Like Zibilee said, we need a cold front to come through down here. Not that I don't love mid-70's but IT'S ALMOST CHRISTMAS!!! I am woefully behind on reviews too. Story of my life. I thought I would stay home and write some but of course I didn't. I never learn.

ReplyDeleteThe weather has been awesome and still not too cold this week 40-50.
ReplyDeleteI still haven't done my reviews Amy. I'm actually feeling in a bit of a blogging funk for some reason, but I am reading, so that's a good thing.
Hope you have a great week.
I want to get to The Night Circus sometime soon, and I really enjoyed The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. Don't you love how Murakami includes cats in his books?! I'm glad that you've signed up for the Venice in February challenge. I look forward to reading some great books with you and the other participants.
ReplyDeleteBERMUDAONION: I don't mind cold weather during the holidays, it's cozy and generally I like the changing seasons. But it's difficult now because there's no rhyme or reason to the weather it seems!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I've been psyching myself up to work on them!
ZIBILEE: Rant away if you need too! And I can very much relate to your angst over not being able to wear your sweaters. I adore sweaters and wear themn whenever possible. I would be very disappointed if I bought some new ones and anticipated wearing them and then the weather remained too warm! I'm wondering what it's going to be like after the New Year! I'll send cold-weather vibes and wishes your way!
ReplyDeleteJoANN: That's what I've been wondering: is this weather a precursor to bad days after the New Year or an indication of what we can expect this entire winter? Only time will tell I s'pose! I certainly won't wish this weather away, but I would love it if it was a little colder in the days before and between Christmas and New Years...I'm not too picky!
ReplyDeleteI can relate to how you're feeling about reviews, except my problem isn't having the time but more the motivation. I'll get them done, they just might not be what my reviews usually are! Good luck with your reviews, JoAnn...No Worries, you'll get them done!
WALL-to-WALL BOOKS: I'm afan of mild weather...I don't like it freezing cold or dreadfully hot...not too fussy, lol! I like the changing seasons but it's difficult to determine the past few years what weather we're going to have when. Oh well, it is what it is, right?!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the sun!
SANDY: I didn't realize that you all in Florida were used to colder weather during the holidays, too! I'll start wishing for cooler temps. for you, too. We still have time and with the way the weather changes at the drop of a hat these days, we could still get cold days for Christmas & New Years!
ReplyDeleteMaybe we should suspend reviews for the month of December...or, better yet, just write for a review:
"This book was very good. I recommend it." and "This book didn't hold my interest. I suggest you read something else!" LOL
BIBLIOPHILE by the SEA: It's rather annoying to be in a funk of any kind, don't you think? But I think I'd rather be in a blogging funk than a readinmg funk, although it might depend on how long it lasts!
ReplyDeleteI can relate to your blogging funk, Diane, having been there. Like other things, it too shall pass. Hang in there, read some good books, enjoy the weather and rest up your fingers and hands!
BELLEZZA: I didn't plan to read it but as another blogger so aptly described it, when I started reading just to check out the book, I "fell into it"! I didn't think I would like The Night Circus that much since I'm not much of a fan of fantasy and magic in writing but it was a wonderful book!
ReplyDeleteI'm lovong The Wind-Up Bird Chronicles. I find that I like to take my time with Murakami's books. I am thrilled that he includes cats in his books. Did you read Murakami's short story in The New Yorker recently (last month, I think?!) in which cats play a central role? If not and you'd like the link, let me know.
I'm really looking forward to 'Venice in February' and planning most of my reading for it now since I want to participate in the TBR Double Dare, too. Thank you for the wonderful list of books you included in your post about 'Venice in February'!
Isn't this mild weather amazing? I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop. And sounds like you found the ultimate cat toy!! Hope her head doesn't explode!!! : )
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try my first Murakami fiction book soon. Perhaps I'll start with The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle.
We've been having warmer weather than normal but nothing like you and certainly not today. It's freezing out today. I definitely did not enjoy walking Sam today. I love watching cats play. They can be so funny.
ReplyDeleteYou're going to be reviewing a few books on my tbr list. I can't wait for your thoughts.
Ohmygosh, what cute kitties. Very curious to hear about the Tom Perrotta book - haven't read any of his since Little Children, which I remember liking.
ReplyDeleteHope your review writing is going all well Amy :) I can relate to that feeling of "stress" that my blog can sometimes induce. I have to keep reminding myself occasionally that this is supposed to be fun, lol.
ReplyDeleteYour cats sounds like such a fun bunch.
