I found this picture on-line and thought it was great ... and scary!
We've had some major lightning and thunderstorms late at night the last couple of weeks. It's the kind of thunder that is so loud it wakes you out of a sound sleep. I saw a picture similar to this in the paper yesterday and wanted to post it here.
I worked as an arts & crafts counselor at a country club summer program when I was in high school. The club was on the water and I saw some amazing lightning storms those summers. I also saw some beautiful boats destroyed by the lightning. So beautiful yet so powerful and destructive.
Nature is very cool.
Nature is amazing. It can be as calm as it can be destructive. I've heard the thunder roar in the middle of the night lately.
ReplyDeleteThat IS amazing!! We saw lightning on board ship when we were returning from Bermuda. I had always wanted to see lightning on the water and it was just as awesome as I imagined.
ReplyDeletePS I loved AMERICA, AMERICA.
It always seems like the thunderstorms around here start about the time I want to go to bed.
ReplyDeleteHow true that is, I've never seen a lightning storm over water. Even hearing thunder on the radio gives me goosebumps,
ReplyDeleteI like your blog and so appreciate you following mine. How on earth did you find it?
:)
I hate thunder and lightning...I get like dogs get, all on edge..hiding under tables. No wait...that was the dog.
ReplyDeletePurple Flowers - yep, beautiful and powerful, it's a wonder people don't respect it more.
ReplyDeleteKathy - I could watch lightning on the water forever aside from the fact that as much as it entrances me, lightning also freaks me out, that strange dichotomy like much in life.
I'm really enjoying America America but taking time with it and interrupting it to read some ARCs.
Bermudaonion - the storms do seem to hit more at night, I guess it's something to do with the air pressure. I don't like being woken up by the thunder, that always unsettles me.
Clarity -I discovered your blog through Purple Flowers. Purple Flowers has been such a wonderful friend to me and such a help with my blog. I decided to look at some of the blogs of people responding to her blog. Sort of that idea of like follows like or a kindred spirit will draw other kindred spirits. Thank you for visiting my blog.
Caite - you are very funny! I s'pose you could hide with the dog, he/she might like the company. Try the couch or the bed, under the table's not so good! I don't like the thunder at all. It's a shame it tags along with the lightning.
'Til tomorrow then =o)

Wonderful photo. Our Shih Tzu was on top of my head all night shaking, fearful of the lightning and thunder. Needless to say I didn't get much rest. :-D It is stormy this morning as well. (No catching up on rest today!)
ReplyDeletei love pictures like that...ok, i love photography.
