Wednesday Cats - Starring The Dopey!

I have severely neglected (on this blog not in real life!) one of my cats known as Dopey (mostly affectionately although he did get the name for a reason!) We rescued Dopey several years ago when he showed up in the driveway, thin, hungry & scraggly. He's filled out now (i.e. fattened-up!) and his fur is thick and shiny!

I realized that I haven't "introduced" Dopey here. I thought now would be a good time since Dopey was neutered on Sunday (poor guy!) and deserves some extra attention. Dopey's about 6-years old & doesn't generally like male cats but he loves the females! I'm hoping being "fixed" will result in a friendlier Dopey to all felines!
Dopey isn't very smart. He's pretty clueless about most things except for food - he loves to eat! and catnip! - he adores it & rolls around on the floor after imbibing! Dopey has a sweet side and it comes out when you least expect it. He also loves to chit-chat, mostly with my husband, and can be quite the conversationalist. We gave him a regular name when we adopted him but started calling him Dopey one day when he was acting particularly silly...and it stuck! The pictures portray the blank stare that got him dubbed The Dopey!

  1. Well, they can't all be whiz kids! Maybe something happened to him as a kitten that stole some of his brain cells!

  2. Hello Dopey....we have one cat that always seems to want to trip us all of the time, appearing under our feet --out of the blue. Think he needs a color with a bell for our protection:0

    Have a nice day Amy.

  3. I often have a similar look on my face when my boss starts spouting off financial concepts that frazzle my brain. I hope he doesn't refer to me as Dopey behind the scenes!

  5. Dopey looks like he's putting you on. He's actually quite intelligent and has you fooled. Look at those eyes. Wise as can be. He ended up with you didn't he? LOL.

  9. SANDY: It's definitely possible! Dopey is certainly not the brains of the group but he's okay with it!

DiANE: Dopey is like that...even if he gets kicked accidentally during the tripping, he keeps doing the same thing. I wonder how he'd cope with a collar?! hmmm....

THE BUMBLES: LOL! I hope not, too! I'm sure your boss thinks he's boring you to death and you've heard it all before - you're still at the job, right, so you're doing something right! Dopey doesn't work.....

  10. BERMUDAONION: We've told him that & he walks away! I love him, he's my Dopey!

TI: Our neighbor said the same thing! Dopey has gained 8lbs in the last year and filled out quite a bit so you may be on to something. I admit to not being able to say no to a cute cat face!

JoANN: Thank you! I don't know if Dopey would always agree but definitely when he's hungry!

  11. LISA: Dopey loves catnip so much he does tricks for it...he'll roll back & forth, talk & jump high! And then he goes to sleep for a long nap!

KATHYA: Dopey gets cat treats, real chicken & lots of cat nip so I suspect he's much more intelligent than we give him credit for!

KATHLEEN: Thank you! He has a very sweet side, too. I love him and feel very guilty about neglecting him here!
