~ Sunday Salon ~

I’m having a lazy Sunday after a kind of crazy week. Crazy with cats! I’ve been emailing, calling and talking with rescue organizations, shelters, veterinarians and their staff and foster homes. Several people have offered to help me get the 2 abandoned cats(Pip and Annie, thanks, Ti!) and the little guy (Edgar) who showed up last month, neutered and spayed, so we don’t add to the cat population problem. That's an issue that drives me nuts! Getting the cats fixed will probably help getting them placement or a home, too. Until then they’ll stay here...so I can get attached to them!

I wish we could keep them all. I think Pip and Annie will be happier in a home with a few less cats. Pip was the only cat in the home he lived in for almost a year and Annie doesn't seem to be a big fan of her own kind! She hisses and growls at other cats quite a bit. There are a lot of personalities here and some of the cats are having a little more difficulty adjusting than others. But most of the time I’m surprised and impressed by how well they’re all getting along. Pip and Annie are young and play with Edgar and Lola a lot. Sometimes some of the older cats, like Huxley and Magoo, join in which is great since they need the exercise!

I spent some rather mindless time today watching a couple of British detective shows on Netflix. They have some really good ones like Bird on A Wire and Rosemary & Thyme. I also discovered that Shameless, on Showtime now, was a British series about 8 years ago. Very funny. I also spent some time reading The Ruins of Us by Keija Parssinen today and I’m hoping to finish Norwegian Wood.

I hope you’re all having a wonderful Sunday!
Happy Reading!

  1. Your commitment to all these kitties really amazes and humbles me. I don't know if I could handle having a foster animal, and then having to give it up. I get attached quite easily. I wish you good luck in finding homes for all the new furbabies, and hope that you have a great week ahead!

  2. I can't even imagine what it is like at your house. We have five personalities (six if you count the neighbor cat who prefers our place) that are always clashing! You are the official guardian angel of cats...God bless you. We need more people like you.

I've had a decent week of reading, but I must admit we are ADDICTED to watching The Office on Netflix streaming.

  3. Sounds like you had a very busy weekend Amy. Hope all works out with the kitties. You are so kind to take care of them all.

Will you be reviewing Norwegian Wood? Just wondering. I already read it but would be curious to know what you think.

Have a great week ahead. Hope you have some time to relax and enjoy. :)

  7. Wow! You have your hands full. I hope they do find homes so that your life can rest a little easier, but at least they have a warm place to hang out for a little while.

I remember when we took in a cat that my MIL had. She became allergic and this cat was all piss and vinegar. She did not get along with my cat and they two of them just about killed each other, but we put them in one room, left for work and by the time we came back, it was true love! LOL.

  8. good luck -- we used to foster kittens but stopped after a) falling in love with all of them and b) having our house trashed too often by them. I've still got my four cats whom I love and adore and rescuing a stray always lures me!

  9. Yes, getting them spayed/neutered is so important. I am constantly nagging a friend about that at the moment - she has a male cat and thinks it's not important as he can't get pregnant. But there are too many unwanted kittens out there, so I will persist...

Hope this week is good to you.

  11. Love to discover the British shows - they always seem to do them better than we do. Although, do you find you have to turn up the volume to understand their accent? Or is that just me?!
