Teaser Tuesday ~ Fury by Salman Rushdie

Teaser Tuesdays is an interesting and fun book-related meme hosted at MizB's blog, Should Be Reading. Be prepared to add several new books to your TBR list! I do every week!

My Teaser:

" Professor Solanka made the mistake of flipping briefly to CNN where it was all Elián, all the time. Professor Solanka was nauseated by people's eternal need for totems A little boy had been rescued from a rubber ring in the sea, his mother drowned, and at once the religious hysteria had begun."

from Fury by Salman Rushdie (p.37)

Anyone can play along! If you'd like to participate, Just do the following:

*Grab your current read *Open to a random page

*Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page. (I used 3 this week!)

*BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

*Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

*And, finally, don't forget to link your post to MizB's at Should Be Reading. If you don't have a blog, simply share your "teasers" in a comment.

  1. Oh, I just have to read this one! I lived in Miami during the Elian Gonzalez days, so this is certainly of interest to me.

  5. I have read a bit of Rushdie, but some I find more difficult than others. I want to try to make it through The Satanic Verses, but I haven't had good luck with that so far. I think I have tried three times. I did think Midnight's Children was exceptional though, and I would recommend it to you if you haven't already read it.

  6. SHIRLEY: Thank you for stopping by!

SANDY N: I'm not far along in Fury yet, but it's quite good and very well-written!

JENNIFER: I highly recommend it (so far!). It's not a big book so I'm sure you'd finish it quickly!

  7. PEPCA: Good! Thanks for visiting!

DIANE: This is my first Rushdie. It's very good so far and I'm sure I'll read more of his. I've heard good things about many of his novels except for "The Ground Beneath her Feet" and a couple others. But there are several to choose from!

ZIBILEE: Thank you for the recommendation! This is my first Rushdie and I like it. I want to read some others but hoped to get recommendations since in addition to good things about his books, I've heard that some are difficult to get through.
