Saturday Snapshot ~ Little Rosie

Here she is, Rosie, the new kitten.

I gave her the name Rose for purposes of the visit to the veterinarian her second day here. It's remained her name because she responded to Rosie the evening after seeing the vet! I've never had a cat respond to a name so quickly. I called out 'Rosie' when she was across the room and she looked up and then started running in the direction of my voice. I guess she's a smart kitty as well as adorable (I'm a little biased, of course!)

Saturday Snapshot

This is Huxley. He's very cute and sweet but not smart, not at all. He has two speeds most days: resting/sleeping or running from one spot to asnother like a crazy cat...frequently stopping for a cat snacks to fuel up!  He plays well by himself with cat toys but welcomes most other cats to play, too. Usually once per day he has a 'freak out' session during which he goes a litle nuts, runs up walls, hangs from the bottom of the bed and shimmies the length of it...things like that.  Huxley's very  fun and entertaining!

In the above photo Huxley is with his sister Hennessey. They get along for short peiods and then one of them, usualy Henny, gets annoyed, hisses and runs off.  I think it's because Henny is smart, has common sense and she doesn't suffer fools gladly!  Huxley's just sweet and playful.

~ Saturday Snapshot ~ Jazzy! ~

This is Jazzy. She doesn't get a long with most of her siblings because she doesn't like other cats! She would like to be the only cat in the family! Jazzy chooses to spend most of her time in the basement. When she wants to, she has a great personality. She's goofy, playful and sweet. Othertimes, she's grouchy, obstinate and a little aggressive! I have had a few scratches and cuts from Jazzy! They're mostly from teaching her things such as,  to drink from a bowl instead of what she's doing in the last photo!   Jazzy actually barks, as in "ruff, ruff"sometimes alomg with a "grrrowlll" when she plays with and chews catnip. I want to get that on video!

Saturday Snapshot ~ Kittens Galore!

I was looking through photos of the cats and I came across Lola when she was small (pic #2: the little black kitten in the middle of the bed!) and her siblings, Frankie, Wally and Percy! In the group photos, there are 4 kittens sleeping on top of each other. The first photo is proud Mama Betsy who, sadly, is no longer with us...but she left behind some adorable babies! Lola's 3 siblings, all male, were adopted out...interestingly, as soon as her brothers left, Lola's personality blossomed!

~ Saturday Snapshot ~

I was looking through some old photos the other day and came across these of Ophelia. She's no longer with us but I love these photos because they show how much she enjoyed life. She was a great cat with a big personality! Ophelia loved to sleep in funny positions, enjoyed playing hard but was also very sweet. She never simply walked into a room but she bounded in at high speeds and it looked as if she was applying the brakes (much like Wile e Coyote) so she didn't crash into a wall! I miss her and I'm happy I have wonderful memories of Ophelia.

~ Saturday Snapshot ~

This is Hennessey. She's been with us since she was about 6 months old, about 5 years. She doesn't like living inside with other cats so she spends much of her time outside, dropping by frequently for meals and/or a cat nap. When the temperatures drop and it gets cold, she comes in for several days at a time. She hisses at the other cats frequently, not caring that she may have taken over their sleeping spot or simply because she thinks they're standing or sitting too close to her! She can be distracted by any toy. though, and loves to play with balls or string toys.

Hennessey, a small cat, is the only cat I've known who puts on 5+ pounds every winter, becoming noticeably chunky! When spring time comes around she slims down again! The two photos of her sleeping sort of show her normal size and then chubby. I'm going to try to get better photos of her now while she's a fatty!

~ Saturday Snapshot ~ The Art of Relaxing!

I've been sick all week with pneumonia so I've been taking it easy and sleeping as much as possible. I haven't achieved quite the level of relaxation of some of the cats,  but I'm working on it!

~ Saturday Snapshot ~ Some Rescue Cats!

These are some of the cats we've rescued and adopted in the last couple of years!

Gidget and Lola. We found these two outside in the freezing cold, dead of winter sleeping in a large ceramic flower pot on top of each other.

Finnegan. Finny is one of the happiest, easy-going cats I've ever known.

Elliot. He looks a lot like Mr. Magoo but isn't cross-eyed...he has a similar disposition, too.

Moses. He was a kitten and loved to play hard until he was exhausted...he used to just suddenly fall asleep while playing. The first time it happened I thought something was wrong, but nope, he simply exhausted himself!

Casey. He's a big, muscular tom cat who loved being petted!
Rascal (he looks a bit like a racoon!)

~ Saturday Snapshot ~

I was looking through some old photos yesterday and came across these. They're from a few years ago - it actually took me a few minutes to place them - but I just love how fascinated this kitten (I think it's Frankie, hard to tell from the back!) is by what's on the TV!

~ Saturday Snapshot ~

Bob was feeling a little left out since he hasn't 'starred' on my blog for a long time so here's Bob doing two of the three things he excels at (playing, sleeping and eating!)

~ Saturday Snapshot ~

It's snowing outside right now! Holy cow, Halloween hasn't even come yet!  A day like today is a great day for getting cozy and reading!  Jojo and, especially, Addie (the black & white kitty) have been very mushy and attention-seeking the last few weeks .  Whenever Addie and Jojo come in from outside, they run up to me, Addie meowing the entire time, and when they reach me, they rub their heads all over my hands, arms, legs, and, if I'm reading, all over my book! They also like to sit on me or right next to me, if they can, when I'm reading.  Neither Addie nor Jojo is a fan of being held, as you can see in the photo where I'm holding Addie, or trying to!, but otherwise they adore being petted and fawned over.

Saturday Snapshot ~ October 8th

Addie developed a bad upper respiratory infection last weekend. After a trip to our Vet, she's been sleeping all week.
I've been doing a lot of that, too, since I got a cold on Monday and I've been cautious and careful so it doesn't develop into bronchitis or pneumonia...this happens to me all the time. blah!  I'm starting to feel better, finally...my head doesn't feel like it weighs 500 lbs anymore and my eyes stay open easily! Yay! lolol

~ Saturday Snapshot ~ September 17 ~

My adorable kitties doing what they do best: Relaxing and Sleeping!

This last one isn't great quality but I just love it because of the way the kittens are sitting. The gray & white kitten (Gidget) and the black & white kitten (Scout) are sleeping aginst Huxley's body, (adult white cat with gray spots - in the pic you can see his back half & tail best!)
Scout got there first and curled up next to Huxley so when Gidget came along she simply sat on top of Scout ~ at least she was kind enough not to sit on Scout's head!
